Hire Me to be Your Vietnam Factory Tour Guide?

Hi, my name is Chris and I am the founder of Vietnam Factory Tours. Starting in 2008 I worked for a t-shirt sewing factory as their marketing manager. I created a team of Vietnam factory tour guides in 2017. In 2024 I started focusing on producing merch for influencers. I just released my second online course where I share my best tips and tricks for working with Vietnamese manufacturers. How can I help you grow your business with production in Vietnam?

What makes us unique?

WE ARE NOT AGENTS

We do not have contracts with factories to get paid commissions. We get paid by you and we have your best interest in mind. For example, if you ask for sock factories the we consider the list of 10 sock factories we know and choose the best three that fit your needs. This also means that our work is very clearly defined and if you want us to do more than introduce then we have a la carte services like audits, QC, sample development…basically you pay as you go. If you need much more than introductions or small jobs done then we are available for hire but we still get paid by you and we are not agents. We are Vietnam factory tour guides for hire that can accept long term contracts as well as short.

WE ARE TRANSPARENT

We don't play the game of hiding our network of factories. The moment you pay us, we are 100% transparent - we are on the same team. When working with us, you can jump in and talk directly to the factory at any time. Our principle role is to be the best team of Vietnam factory tour guides.

WE EDUCATE

We like to learn and we like to share what we have learned about food, history, manufacturing, politics and culture in Vietnam. We are very knowledgeable about all the steps in garment manufacturing, fabric manufacturing, quality control, shipping and import/export duties. If you ask a question we can not answer then we know someone who can.

Team Building Trips

In 2024 the team went to Lombok Indonesia to learn how to surf. We landed in Bali, then went to Nusa Penida for two nights, then to Gilli Islands for two days before landing in Lombok. In Lombok we explored all the surf spots and enjoyed delicious Indonesian cuisine. Each year we get away and explore South East Asia.

Advice from Sourcing Specialist in Vietnam

Does Vietnam makes business sense for you. Low minimum clothing manufacturing in Vietnam does not always make good business sense.

The main reason to produce in Vietnam is to get quality at a low price. The two main components of price are labor costs and fabric costs (aka raw materials.) Let’s look at labor costs. Vietnam’s minimum wage ranges @ $190 per month compared to China’s which ranges @$350. Based on labor cost alone, Vietnam does make business sense. But, when it comes to fabric, it’s a different story. 70% of the fabric in Vietnam is purchased from China. Chinese sewing factories can buy the same fabric cheaper and faster. Based on fabric costs alone Vietnam doesn’t make business sense. In order to get cheap, quality fabric from China you must buy large quantities and negotiate sweetheart deals. Note that there are additional shipping costs to get the fabric from China to Vietnam. Keep that in mind if you want to do small batch clothing manufacturing in Vietnam.

So, if you are already established in China and doing small quantity, I recommend you stay in China. It doesn’t make business sense to pay to maintain two production centers: maintain your China production and find new factories in Vietnam is too costly.

If you are not established in China then I recommend starting in Vietnam, knowing that, in the beginning your Vietnam price probably will be higher than the China price because of the fabric issue. (Raw Material Issue)

Here are 5 reasons why I recommend Vietnam:

Vietnam labor costs will always be lower than China
Vietnam is getting better at producing fabric locally
Vietnam has a western business friendly environment more so than other asian countries
It’s safe, easy and pleasant to travel in Vietnam
Finally, Vietnam is known for quality

In summary, when you can source your fabric in Vietnam then Vietnam makes business sense if you can meet the fabric MOQ. For small batch clothing manufacturing in Vietnam you will need to buy stock fabric. For that matter, getting any raw materials made in Vietnam for any product category is one key to success here.

Let's Meet at A Chocolate Factory or Connect on Linkedin

Do you like chocolate? I love it. Especially if it is authentic single sourced quality chocolate 100% made in Vietnam. That is exactly what Maison Marou is all about. It's a coffee shop, chocolate shop, and chocolate factory, rolled into one with an amazing positive atmosphere. I go there almost every day after work to finish the things that I didn't finish during working hours. It's my favorite place to meet friends and potential clients. If you wanted to get together for a quick meet and greet, then let's meet here.
